The Grotten Noord, Maastricht
The " North Caves " from part of an enormous underground complex: 22,000 corridors and caverns created by the mining that built Maastricht over hundreds of years. Experienced guides will talk you through the highlights, including how the caves became hiding places in war, spaces for scientific discovery, and experimental laboratories in later years.
Inside, the caves have constant temperatures (around 12C) and humidity. During the tour, we will also talk you through three local whiskeys and taste them, turning out the lights as we do. No wind, no noise, no light - you can focus all your senses on the rich spirit in your glass .
Mwórveld Tour Discount
EuroWhisky can offer a special discount if you want to dive further into the whiskeys of Limburg. One of the whiskeys we will try comes form Mwórveld Distillery , and you can add a tour there to your ticket . If you enjoy the single malt we try during this tasting, you'll get to try other varieties there as well as the whole range of Mwórveld spirits.
Bisschopsmolen & Vlaai
After a whiskey tasting, you need something to eat. As we leave the Grotten at 2:15 PM , you'll get a piece of classic Bisschopsmolen vlaai. Made in the South Limburg style in the heart of Maastricht, the pies will come in two flavors, both lactose-free, vegan, and most of all delicious!
Then you have time to either head to Mwórveld Distillery by taxi/car* for a tour there at 15:00 , or come with me (Harry) on a walk through the Stadspark to see the Bisschopsmolen nearby.
