ABOUT

EuroWhisky was created by me (Harry Brennan) to promote and explore the world of European whisky

I've been plumbing the depths of the whiskey world since sharing my first bottle (a Glenmorangie 10) with my friend Paul in 2014. That said, my passion for whiskey really took off in 2017 when I began working at the Scotch Whiskey Experience in Edinburgh . Even then, I noticed that whiskeys produced on the European continent went overlooked - despite being widely recognized as high-quality when they did show up. This idea stuck around while I spent 2018-2022 completing a PhD in History.

Afterward, I worked at the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society in Leith, reinvigorating my love for whiskey before I was whisked away to the Netherlands for my partner's new job. Now that I have the time and support to act on my ideas, here is the result - EuroWhisky .

There is a rich seam of whiskey waiting to be discovered across Europe. EuroWhisky is the first place to bring it all together under one roof, with reviews, samples, and tastings. The aim is to give you full access to the continent's distilling diversity , from small farm and craft distilleries right up to the big producers.

Eurowhisky exists to highlight and bring together the extraordinary diversity of whiskey being distilled across Europe. Despite a few dozen distilleries outside Scotland and Ireland breaking through, the true extent of European whiskey is staggering .

Europe now boasts at least 800 distilleries producing at least one whisky. Ireland and Scotland make up around 1/4 of the total - they might produce the bulk of Europe's whiskey in quantity, but not in variety!

Did you know that Germany has roughly as many distilleries producing whiskey as Scotland, or France as many as Ireland? That England has dozens, or that Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Iceland, and Portugal all produce whisky?

The number is only going up, so join us to find out more about this ever-expanding world of European whisky.
